WhereThe Vineyard
Blackwater does not own vineyards, instead we opted for sourcing blocks of grapes that fascinate and intrigue us. Our selected vineyards have a common theme, they are based on rocky soils, regardless of region or variety; we love rocky soils. Currently we have partners in Swartland, Darling, Robertson, Tulbagh and Stellenbosch who grows and looks after the vineyards. We are forever looking around at new or interesting sites…

Syrah
A lifetime love affair with the Northern Rhone stalwart, Syrah; it has shown itself to be nimble enough to take on many forms, be resilient against challenging conditions and perform well across all regions of South Africa .
Chenin blanc
A national treasure, the Boland landscape are dotted with Chenin blanc vineyards in any shape, form or age one can imagine. Relegated as a workhorse grape for many years, South African Chenin blanc have exploded onto the international wine stage as an icon in the making.
Cinsaut
The dark-horse grape in the South African arsenal, for decades it had to be content with a supporting act in generic red blends. The last two decades have seen this grape being dragged up its bootstraps and given it due honour of being capable of having a solo act.
